p*dis staff for a day
p*dis staff for a day!
Firstly we went with Masami to (our guardian angel/distributor/manager/coordinator/everything) to the newly renovated Tower Records to meet and greet with the buyers, who have shown us great kindness and favour over the years since we established KITCHEN. LABEL.
I was overjoyed to see “A LITTLE FABLE” still on display. Our other releases like Nº 9 EVADE – DESTROY & DREAM and Nº 11 SZYMON KALISKI – FROM SCATTERED ACCIDENTS are currently featured at the listening booths on level 7. Szymon’s right above my favourite Peter Broderick, who also collaborated in the album.
Masami tells me this ridiculous story of Keiji Haino who once visited her parents’ soba restaurant, and the folks had no idea who he was. I get reminded of the inn where we stayed in Mashiko… The innkeepers once had Yoshiki of X-Japan as guest and were wondering who this おじさん was.
Time to visit the new p*dis office. The company has since shifted to a 2-storey space and is now located on the other side of Shibuya, nearer to the new Hikarie mall.
Ricks working out the promo copies for our next upcoming release Nº 10 PILL-OH – VANISHING MIRROR.
For the past year Ricks has been working on KITCHEN. LABEL full-time while i handle the design side of the business. Drowning in design work i sometimes envy how fun his job seems (of course he wouldn’t agree)… So i was happy to help him and Masami out…
We finish in a couple of hours and Masami takes us to a funny curry place near p*dis. The restaurant had a beach/surfer reggae theme and you would be able to choose your desired level of spiciness from 0-20. Masami went with a safe 0. I was going to pick 10 but she warned against it so we settled for 5… well it tasted nothing like spicy for our Singaporean tastebuds. We must have eaten so much till we got dizzy, stumbling out of the restaurant like overstuffed turkeys. “It’s really cold tonight!”, i lamented to Masami. “What?! Even after you just had such spicy curry?!” was her candid reply. でも全然辛くなったじゃん!
